FOUNDER BIO

For more than 20 years, Sean Kay has been producing significant, sustainable growth for diverse multi-million dollar branded consumer products businesses in Canada across both hard and soft lines.

Sean launched his consumer products career in Retail – first in Marketing at the global headquarters of Marks & Spencer in the UK, then in Merchandising at the Canadian head office of TJMaxx.

His journey into the world of Brand Licensing began with The Walt Disney Company. Over 8 years, he worked in progressively senior positions across many disciplines, ultimately becoming the Canadian Managing Director of Licensing, Retail Sales and Marketing. With his leadership, this operation rose to become the second highest country for growth within the global organization.

Sean also has extensive experience creating and building successful branded licensed businesses in manufacturing as a Licensee, in his capacity as President of Blufuze Brands, a division of Multigroup, (at the time) one of Canada’s largest apparel manufacturers, as well as in his role as a Vice-President of Global Brands at California Innovations, the largest global supplier of soft-sided insulated products.

He has considerable accomplishments working with some of the world’s most valuable brands and global Licensors including Disney, DreamWorks, Nickelodeon, Calvin Klein, Columbia, Timberland, Perry Ellis and Hurley (a division of Nike).

Sean is recognized as a collaborative, tenacious and passionate brand licensing authority, who is grounded in both corporate as well as entrepreneurial businesses. Sean established Benchmark Licensing Inc.  a full-service Licensing and Brand Management agency that has a consumer products foundation built from multi-disciplinary, multi-industry, knowledge and experience to work with Brands increase brand equity & value.
